I bought this camera for my 17 year-old son who is quite tech savvy (compared to myself). I've read the previous reviews about "grainy" pics, but once you figure out how the make adjustments the pictures come out just fine. It takes good pictures, has a decent enough zoom lense, and allows him to edit photos on the camera. It has a lot of other options to that he seems to be quite happy about. He carries it to school daily and is always taking pictures of friends and such and they upload directly to his computer via a USB cable. He doesn't use the camera box since he carries the camera around like his cell phone, and he gave the crayons to his 3 year-old sister. Two gifts in one! LOL. The camera is very easy to use and I'd recommend it for someone just starting out using ditigal cameras, or someone in HS or junior high who takes daily random shots of a bunch of other teens/friends.

I gave this camera to my six year old daughter and it's fabulous. Easy to use, large screen, lightweight and lots of functions. So far, no complaints whatsoever. She absolutely loves it and it takes great photographs. Great first digital camera.

I just got this great, new camera from Nikon and it has been just great. This falls into the category of "what will they think of next?" The camera itself is a solid performer for a point and shoot with a slightly better than average 5x zoom which is great for a point & shoot model. Of course, the projector is the "WOW!" factor. No more squeezing around the display on the back to show your friends the photos. The projector is a great way to share your images. The image quality is not as high as the LCD display, but fine for quick showings.
As an artist, I will use this camera to shoot new subjects, then project them onto a canvas so I can transfer the compositions into a painting.
Be sure to order the larger Nikon case since the other "S" cases are too small for this model.

Wonderful little camera. First thing I did was put it into a bucket of water and test it. It was dry and fully functioning after 1 hour floating.Next test will be a snorkling trip I bought it for. My only complaint is how small it actually is and not much of a grip. But it is supposed to be small and takes better pictures in the dark than my main camera. I was amazed at how well it performs in low light. Can't say much about battery life as I haven't been able to test it's limits but very impressed so far. Rest of the kit is great also abd the bag is a good fit for the camera.

I did it! I made the switch to the four thirds format and I am glad I did.(Not that I have alot of old lenses) If you have a standard sized DSLR you will appreciate the size and weight immediatly. This is by no means a pockatable camera.. but more like a camera that you will carry in one hand with a wrist strap attached. For the money this camera will blow you away. It quickly shoots sharp, well exposed photos that look great, both with and without the flash. The camera is reserved about bumping up the ISO speed in auto...so this means even photos taken inside with the flash within flash range will be taken at ISO 250 or lower. So for all of those who have read that this camera does not have the best photo quality at high ISO speeds... over 800 it doesnt really matter, as most photo situations will not require it to. The auto white balance is excellent.. but if you want even better photos manually quickly and easily set the WB via the touch screen and WOW, WOW, WOW! I also have a Canon Rebel XSI that I have compared to this camera. The reality is that they both take great well exposed photos, the difference is that The Panasonics auto focus Does Not Miss. When it focus and locks.. you are 99% garanteed to capture a sharp well exposed photo... as long as you don't shake the camera. With the Canon it focused and locked but I noticed only about 90% of these pictures would be sharp. The Canon also produces much softer pictures in general but I guess this is a matter of personal preferance. In short with the Panasonic in hand, I feel that I end up with more great pics at the end of the day. I feel good knowing that I'm going to get great pictures when I am on vaction or at an indoor party. The Panasonic is an excellent all around camera. The picture quality is so good that most people will not be able to tell the difference between this and a high end DSLR. The differences are just too suttle to notice. So don't just look, go ahead and get one of these cameras.. it is awesome. 90 plus percent of you will love it. Trust me! It basically offers all of the ease and new technologies of point and shoots, combined with DSLR quality photos with DSLR flexibility. By the way this camera is very well constructed and has a great rubber/velvet feel. I am now looking for a buyer for my Canon XSI............LOL

I bought this camera a few weeks ago and it has been fantastic. The picture quality is wonderful and the camera is so well made. When you are holding it in your hand you can feel that Sony construction quality that puts everything American made to shame. The picture quality is very good, and even if you visibly "move" the camera while taking a photo, it still does not come out blurry - hence the "steady shot" moniker that the camera is named for. And I didn't notice any excessively long delay when I hit the button until the time the camera took the photo. The camera is really a very easy to use point and shoot camera. And the layout/design make it easy to quickly learn what each button's function is. I had a nice Fuji Film (2004) camera that I was looking to upgrade, and I've been very happy with this Sony product.

The XT is amazing. The battery comes partly charged so you can immedietly start using the camera (thank you Canon!) I've already shot about 200 pictures with it and the battery hasn't died yet.
I can't give you a comparison between the XT and the 20D as I haven't owned a 20D, I can tell you a few things you may wish to know before buying.
This camera, is TINY. Extremely tiny. I'm a woman in my early twenties and I have small hands. The camera fits just right in my hands, but honestly, I don't see how someone with bigger hands would be 100% comfortable holding this. If my hands were any larger, they would be slipping off the bottom.
I had tried holding a 20D at a camera shop once and it felt too large in my hands to grip. The camera size is perfect for me, but just beware if you have larger hands. You may want to look into the battery grip, or test out holding the camera at a store before you order it. See the picture I uploaded above to get a size relation and how the camera fits in my hands.

I'm wondering why the MSRP on the Olympus site is $399 and the supposed "list" price on Amazon is $449? This is not a $55 savings, it's a $5 savings. Check out other online retailers for better buys. Amazon, shame on you. Why do you allow this?

Nikon COOLPIX S510 8 Megapixel Digital Camera - SilverI'm a digital portrait photographer, and I have a DSLR and alot of equipment that I lug around whenever I'm on a shoot. My digital SLR is a workhorse... however, it's heavy and it's an expensive camera (not to mention the lenses that I work with), and it's just not practical or logical to carry it around when I'm not doing a formal shoot with a client.
So, I looked into getting a small, compact, and cheap (money-wise) point-and-shoot camera that I could slip into my pocket or my purse for everyday moments, that I could whip out at any second and start taking pictures.
I had a Canon SD800 IS for awhile... and while it was an okay camera, it tended to blow out the highlights more often than not... so I searched again... and knowing that Nikon tends to be a bit more conservative with highlights, I came across this little camera, the s510.

Image quality is just as important to me as the convenience of a p&s, so when my latest Canon broke due to a lens that no longer retracted, I decided to try Fuji due to the rave reviews I've read about its imaging technology.
Putting it through the paces, pictures came out sharp and natural in outdoor conditions, but I was somewhat disappointed with the noise and blurring that still occurred in lower light conditions despite the image stabilisation. It's a similar fault in my old SD800IS, which I guess is a limitation of ultra-compact cameras generally. The difference in image quality between the Fuji and Canon was so small, that I think if you've decided to get a p&s then the Fuji is just as acceptable as any Canon in the same range. This is where the other features come into importance.

I considered all of the reviews by 'experts' on various product review sites and Consumer Reports. This camera was consistently rated highly. So were most of the Canon cameras, which are rated even higher.
However, if you look carefully at the reviews (especially Consumer Reports), you will see that the overall rating is heavily influenced by things such as ease of operation, features, etc. Yet, they mostly say this Samsung had the single advantage of superior picture quality.
I decided to forgo the other aspects of the reviews and get maximum picture quality. To me, the reason to use a camera is to get a good picture. I am not disappointed. I am not a camera buff and find this camera easy to use with more features than I'll ever use on a regular basis. Oh; and the picture quality is truly excellent - just what a camera should do.

I love this camera. It's small, compact (maybe about the size of a Blackberry) and light weight. It can easily fit in a small purse or your back pocket. The touch screen operation is as easy as can be - and has a nice large screen compared to a lot of other cameras this size. It records videos, it has both zoom and wide angle, and the touch screen is easy to operate. this camera is easy to figure out the basics even without a manual. read the manual and it's a piece of cake. takes great pictures.

I love Fuji cameras - and no, I'm not a Fuji employee, but maybe I should be - I would love an employee discount! This Z37 was a deal I couldn't refuse and I believe this is my 10th Fuji digital camera I've purchased since 2004. I got the purple color and it's beautiful.
I owned the Z30 Fujifilm FinePix Z30 10 MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom and 2.7 inch LCD (Whirl White) previously, but at the last minute I decided to gift it to a young relative of mine only because of one thing I disliked about it: On the Z30 the USB plug-in was located INSIDE the camera's battery compartment. I feared the latch would eventually break off since the USB plug, the battery and the memory card were all in the same area.

After using my new camera for a few weeks, I couldn't be more happier with it. The image quality is amazing, and it will be a long time (if ever) that I can use this camera's full potential. I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to transition from point and shoot to digital slr. The only drawback is the lack of being able to see what you are going to take a picture of on the screen (live view), this option can be had on the A390, but to me it's not worth the price difference.
